weather and traffic with david and karen. >> reporter: it's getting more and more so as we go through the weekend. there are issues over the weekend, hopefully we'll skate through it without any precipitation. there's precipitation down to the south below maryland and southern virginia having a hard time reaching toward the north. also the clouds you see across the region are high and relatively thin. we expect sunny breaks through the high cloud cover. we're milder this morning than recently. 65 degrees in philadelphia. allentown was getting ready to slip into the 40s. we're up to 58 degrees in allentown. a little better there, 58 in reading, as well. 57 in lancaster, 62 in trenton. 70 degrees for the early morning stroll on the board wake in ac. if you're heading out to catch the bus or get the car started look for partly cloudy skies overall. cool conditions and between 6:00 a.m. and 8:00 a.m., running into the low to mid 60s a
little bit of a breeze not a bad morning. 82 yesterday, today we'll spend most of the afternoon in the mid to upper 70s. noon, 76. 3:00 p.m., 79. 6:00 p.m., 72 degrees. karen rogers lots of stuff going on otherwise and weather wise. >> reporter: and the schuylkill is going to shut down. we have a few things with traffic, as well. we're looking live on the vine street express way. you can see the flashing lights. because they have shut down the ramps. we see the ramp is shut down the vine itself is open. the schuylkill expressway is open. they are starting to shut down the ramps leading to the closures around the perimeter of the city. let's talk about the main closures we'll see at 10:00 p.m. tonight. the schuylkill expressway eastbound shut down between the blue route and i-95, westbound is shut down between i-95 and route 1. open through the evening commute
not until 10 m approximate. southbound will shut down lancaster an route 30. northbound will be shut down between route 30 lancaster avenue and the schuylkill expressway. the ben franklin bridge will be open for pedestrian traffic through the weekend. admiral wilson boulevard leading to the ben will be shut down. 676 northbound between morgan boulevard and market street. and the vine itself will be closed for the length. all the majors are open. those are the closures we'll see for the weekend. a lot of people have been worried about the ben being closed. the walt whitman bridge will be open. the tacony-palmyra will be open county betsy ross bridge and the commodor barry bridge. i-95 is open for the weekend, as well, tam. >> thank you, karen. tomorrow is the big day, the pope will finally arrive in the city of brotherly love. this is a live look from the sky 6 camera atop the dow building in front of independence hall. saturday afternoon pope francis
will be here at that very spot to deliver a speech on immigration and religious freedom. >> more street closures go into place as we await francis' arrival tomorrow morning. >> let's go over to katherine scott live from broad and vine in center city with the details. good morning, katherine. >> reporter: good morning, tam and matt, there's a lot of excitement about the pope's arrival, but there are a lot of road closures, there they will e difficult to get around. you can't go west on vine street from where we are. and broad street. that is closed off. people will be going through security at some point. there will be more closures as we get closer to the pope's arrival. 8-foot security fences were going up last night on the parkway. the concrete barriers are being moved into place.
6:00 a.m., the area between 12th street and west of 20th will be open to pedestrians only. in the red area pedestrians will need to go through metal detecters. penndot shut down 6 ramps to the vine street expressway leading to the papal security grounds. tonight the highway closures gin 676 and 76. at 10:00 p.m., the traffic boxes go into effect. vehicles can leave, but won't be able to enter. construction crews build the papal stage at eakens oval. the parkway has been packed with people soaking it in. back here live on broad by vine you can see it's all set up here there will be a security checkpoint. there will be a public access, but no ticket will be necessary to enter up ahead here. they just dropped off a bunch of
tsa agents, there will be screening very, very soon. we're getting closer to the screening points within the area for the purpose of the pedestrians only zone. a lot going on stay with "action news" and for a full list of the highway closures go to 6abc.com. live in center city, katherine scott channel 6 "action news." >> now, pope francis will stay at saint charles borromeo seminary in wynnewood, montgomery county. we found preparations nearly complete at the seminary on city avenue after a summer of renovating painting and planting. four dozen delegates from around the world will stay at the seminary with the pope. it may be tempting to get an aerial picture of pope francis and the crowds surrounding him. drones are not allowed. no drone zones are in effect through sunday. drones and any other unmanned aircraft are banned from the
